Champions 2009
To decide the Champion beers of the festival all of the beers are tasted the day before the festival opens in order to determine a Festival Champion.
Beers are tasted by their style initially such as Stouts, Session Bitters, Premium Bitters, milds and so on, to determine a winner of each style, see the Champions 2009 PDF for the full list of winners
The winning style beers are then tested by a final panel - often including local celebrities to arrive at an overall Festival Winner, the overall winner then has a good chance of being shortlisted for the Champion Beer of Britain held annually in London.
